A fair city with equal opportunity for all

GroenLinks wants a fair solution to the current housing crisis. We will build more houses, especially for starters, the elderly and families. People who use houses as an investment opportunity will get no more room in Arnhem. Houses are not meant for people to become rich. They are for people to live in. Poverty has no place in our city. We will fight poverty and help people to find employment. Everone should be able to make ends meet. No child deserves to grow up in poverty.

These are our plans.

Trust should be the basis of social policy. If people need benefits to make ends meet, we will not enforce every little rule that comes with it, but rather help people find jobs.
At least half of all newly built houses should be in the 'affordable' category. That will be social housing and cheap purchaseable housing.
People who buy houses just to make a profit will no longer be able to do so. Arnhem will get a live-in-requirement. That way everybody who buys a house is obligated to live in it.
